We organise gap year and career break volunteer projects plus summer breaks in Mexico, Cambodia, Nepal, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Ecuador and the Galapagos. We're a small, friendly, but highly professional organisation that places committed volunteers in carefully selected, meaningful projects.

Volunteering abroad could involve anything from working with children – in schools or orphanages – to helping out at an animal rescue centre. Other popular projects include rainforest and marine conservation, teaching English or art and craft, or medical-related projects, such as physiotherapy. There really is something for everyone.

Your individual skills and interests need to match the needs of the project. We put great effort into making sure the placement is right for you.

Our gap year volunteers are often in their late teens or twenties. Mature volunteers may be in their thirties or forties, or even retired. Our summer break projects are perfect for 16 and 17 year olds.

Generally, you don't need qualifications – just energy, enthusiasm and commitment. There are also great opportunities for travelling and sightseeing.

Thinking of participating in volunteer work abroad? We'd love to hear from you.

"I had a brilliant experience, and I wouldn't change a thing. I now know what I want to do with my life."

Joanna Tallis, Teaching Art and Craft to the Disabled project volunteer, Mexico

"The project is going well we're having a really great time at the school the teachers are very friendly and welcoming despite my lack of fluency! I wish my spanish had been that little bit better so my responses were quicker. The kids are great very tiring but kind and again really welcoming to us. Yes we did feel the earthquake moving the downstairs of our homestay house. Then just this weird sensation as you walk outside and you feel you can't walk steadily! Delighted to give you a full evaluation when we are back. I'll keep you updated on anything else."

Why Choose Outreach International?

Our overseas volunteer projects are carefully selected and regularly monitored. They all need volunteers so there is a clear, defined role for you.

Before you make a commitment we like to chat to potential volunteers over the phone and then meet you informally to discuss your project. It's a little more involved than other gap year organisations, but we want you to enjoy the best, most suitable placement rather than simply take your money.

We're also good value. You may pay a little more, but with us you get a complete package, inclusive of EVERYTHING bar flights, vaccinations and personal spending.

No wonder that most of our volunteers are actually referred to us by their friends or family who've volunteered before!
