With more volunteers starting their summer placements it is great to hear how they are getting on. The following snippet is from Carrie, an occupational therapy student volunteering with a student friend, who wanted to use her volunteer placement to gain some invaluable experience supporting a local therapist, while also providing some additional caring capacity to the centre caring for disabled children in Quito, Ecuador.
We’re having a great time thank you. This country is just beautiful and the people are all so friendly.
We are both really enjoying our project, taking turns between the occupational therapy room and the nursery downstairs.
Spanish is difficult! But the lessons really helped, I have learnt lots of commands which have been useful with the children (eat, jump, pull, push!).
