Gwenan primarily volunteered at the street children project in Mexico, but was also there to deliver the radios to the turtle camp project.
Having just returned it is great to hear not only of the highlights of her time in Mexico, but how our pre-trip support helped her get the most from her experience, and what a great asset our professional country coordinators are when things get more challenging (in this case a bad dose of food poisoning from street food). Thanks Greta for all the help you gave locally.
I’m back in the UK now and almost (!) over my jet lag… although I have been up since 3am this morning…
It was so difficult to say goodbye to everyone at the project, the host family and my other new friends in Vallarta but I’ve promised them all I’ll be back in the future and I truly hope this promise will be fulfilled. Feeling back to normal health-wise as well nowadays and managed an amazing 8 days in Cancun before I came home – swimming in cenotes and with whalesharks, visiting pyramids at Chichen Itza and Tulum, meeting international friends at my hostel and experiencing the Cancun nightlife!! But it’s so great to see my family and friends again!
I want to thank you so much for the support in hospital and before and during the whole trip. I think Outreach is so well set-up to have a supervisor in the country and give such extensive information before volunteers set off. It definitely improved my experience to be so well-informed and to have that extra support.
Best Wishes and I look forward to hearing from you,
