Connie and Christine, our two intrepid occupational therapists volunteering in rural areas of Cambodia, are coming to the end of their trip. Here are a few diary notes and photos describing the mix of activities they are getting involved in. It is great to hear how they are helping train and support local staff before they go, providing a more sustainable benefit to their volunteer activity.
Working in the local school is a proactive activity they have undertaken themselves – fantastic news and I am sure it is a great experience for all.
Here are a few pictures and a quick update from Prey Veng.
We have been treating CP and stroke diagnoses here. As next week will be our last week in Prey Veng before we go back to Phnom Penh to finish our time in Cambodia, we are preparing the staff with patient carryover instructions and helpful materials. We have been providing training to staff on treating patients post-stroke and are making a packet of appropriate treatment interventions with visual diagrams to leave for the staff as well.
On the weekend, we also volunteer at a rural school for English and computer skills, and are helping in the preparation of further English lesson plans as well.
Hope is all is well with you! 🙂
